Structure Fire
VERONA -- VFD, along with automatic aid from Fithcburg, Oregon and Beleville were paged to a building on fire. Click here to see the report from NBC 15.


June 21:

Warehouse Fire
VERONA -- VFD, along with automatic aid from Fitchburg, was page for a report of a warehouse on fire in the 200 block of Bruce St.. Lt. Lindquist was the first on location and found heavy smoke and fire coming out of the front of the building. He quickly asked for two additional engine companies to respond to the scene and assist with the fire.

Verona Engine 1 was the second unit on location and attacked the fire with a 2 ½ inch house line and quickly extinguished the fire. Fitchburg Engine 2 did search and rescue with Verona Ladder 3 checked the roof of the building.

The fire was mostly contained to the business that the fire had started in. Fire investigation started after knock down and an all clear was announced on the building.

No one was hurt in the incident and at the time of this posting, no determination of the cause of fire had been reached.

Car Accident
VERONA -- VFD was paged for a report of a car accident at the intersection of Paoli St & Main St. Fitch-Rona EMS was the first unit on scene and Verona Squad 5 arrived shortly after that. Verona Chief Stein also arrived on scene and held all other units in quarters because there was no need for the extra equipment.

Squad 5 assisted with patient care and check hazards on the vehicles before returning to quarters.

Playground Equipment Fire
VERONA -- Verona Engine 1 was paged to Palmer Park for report of playground on fire. Engine 1 arrived on scene to find some grass burning around the equipment. Engine 1 crew quickly extinguished the fire before it did any damage to the equipment.

Mutual Aid into Fitchburg

FITCHBURG -- Verona Tender 8 was paged along with FitchburgFire for a reported mobile home in the 5200 block of Byrne Rd. Fitchburg Fire units were the first on location and found a mobile home with fire showing from it. Verona Tender 8 assisted with water supply.
