Structure Fire with a MABAS Box Alarm - Questa Ridge Trail City of Verona
Saturday, July 7, 2018
On Thursday, July 12, 2012, at 16:44 hours the Verona Fire Department was dispatched for a structure fire on Questa Ridge Trail. Prior to arriving on scene Engine 1 saw the smoke column and due to high temperatures called for a MABAS Box Alarm. Once on scene Engine 1 found an exterior fire on the rear of the home that had extended into the attic and laid attack lines to the rear of the structure. All of the occupants were out of the home on our arrival. Verona Car 1 and Ladder 3 arrived on scene and Command was passed to Fire 1 and Fire 3 was assigned Operations while Ladder 3 assisted Engine 1 with fire attack and setup the aerial ladder. Automatic Aid and Mutual Aid Companies arrived and worked together to extinguish the fire, salvage, check for extension, and overhaul the fire. Fitch-Rona Paramedics setup Rehab at the scene due to temps in the 90’s. Fire damage was contained to the rear exterior, part of the attic, and about a 10’ X 10’ portion of the roof. There were no injuries with 16 pieces of apparatus and 53 personnel on scene. Mutual Aid Departments were: Fitchburg, Oregon, Belleville, Mt. Horeb, Belleville EMS, and Shorewood Hills. Thanks to those mentioned as well as the Dane County Comm Center, great job by all!
